THM was founded in Alt Duvenstedt, northern Germany, by aerospace engineer Thomas Mertin and Petra Mertin. Thomas brought high-grade carbon fibre manufacturing from aerospace into the sports and leisure sector, a niche nobody else was serving at the time.

The brand's breakthrough came with THM-Carbones: the world's lightest cranks and fork, raced and proven by the Deutsche Telekom pro team. They were recognised as the best available for performance road bikes.

THM has since expanded into cranksets, brakes, and stems, all still made from the same super-premium engineering standard. The compact team keeps production tight, which is why custom bike builders specifically seek THM parts out.
