The EXS R150/R180 carbon handlebars are designed to address a common but often overlooked issue in bike fitting - most riders use handlebars that are too wide. With widths ranging from 34cm to 42cm, these bars make it easier for men, women, and younger riders to find a size that truly matches their physiology.
Breaking away from tradition, the handlebars feature a specially designed asymmetrical oval tube shape that enhances both comfort and stiffness. The top section has been repeatedly refined based on rider feedback to deliver consistent ergonomic support, whether cables are routed in front of or beneath the bar.
Performance is central to the R150/R180 design, offering an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio across key load points when compared to other premium carbon road handlebars. Riders benefit from precise steering and efficient power transfer without unnecessary weight.

Data from bike fitters over the years indicate that many riders use a handlebar that is too wide for them. In fact, there are many male riders who require 36cm handlebars. With the existing trend of wide handlebars, women and teenagers also find difficulty in sourcing suitable handlebars.

Breaking Traditions
Instead of traditional round tube shapes, we use a specially-designed asymmetrical oval shape which improves both the comfort and stiffness.
While riding, a cyclist has a back angle of around 40-50°, and a shoulder angle of around 80-90°. When the rider holds or rests on the top, their torso will be more upright, and the corresponding shoulder angle smaller.
Based on the feedback from many riders, we have redesigned the top several times to optimise for grip. The handlebar is always ergonomic, no matter if the cables go in front or underneath the bar.

Why Choose a Short Reach Bend?
It is an indisputable fact that Asians have shorter arm lengths compared to Europeans.
A short reach bend allows the rider to use a longer stem. This is in contrast to using a short stem with a long reach handlebar.
The non-slip coating of the brake/shifter lock ring is in the common installation position. If you require a higher elevation, the shifters can be installed normally above this area.
It is recommended to install the handlebar such that the bar end is perpendicular to the horizontal plane.
Some products have a significant drop around the ramps (such as 10° for 3T Ergonova). R150/180 do not have such a drop, resulting in a higher actual stack of the shifter. This reduces the number of spacers required, making the bicycle look more pleasing to the eye.
For riders who need a lower stack, we recommend using a large angle stem, such as -12 or -17° stems.
We have observed that many riders put their hands on the corners of the handlebars when riding, so we targeted to optimise for comfort there, while also catering to the needs of competitive riders.
After testing and feedback, most riders believe that the optimised area is useful and improves grip.
