The X-Rotor SteelCarbon 3 is the third generation of Carbon-Ti's flagship semi-floating disc rotor, building on a design that earned a strong following in both road and MTB circles since the original SteelCarbon debuted in 2015. The construction logic is the same as it's always been: a steel braking surface for durability and pad compatibility, bonded to a carbon fibre inner body to keep weight down, with Grade 5 titanium hardware throughout.

This Centerlock variant was developed with UAE Team Emirates and field-tested on Colnago V4RS bikes at the Giro d'Italia.

Carbon-Ti designed a dedicated Al-7075 Centerlock adapter with a laser-engraved titanium protection plate, rather than relying on third-party adapters as the previous generation required.

Features

Steel and Carbon Fibre Construction

The braking surface is a 1.8mm thick special steel track, redesigned on the third generation for improved braking performance, better heat dissipation, and more even pad wear compared to the SteelCarbon 2. The inner spider is carbon fibre, keeping the overall system weight at 86g for the 140mm rotor and 98g for 160mm.

Dedicated CenterLock Adapter

The Al-7075 CenterLock adapter is designed specifically for this rotor. It integrates directly with the carbon body and comes with a laser-engraved titanium protection plate that fits flush into the carbon shape. The low-profile lockring is compatible with 12, 15, and 20mm thru-axle hubs.

Grade 5 Titanium Rivets and Washers

All rivets and washers are Grade 5 titanium, continuing Carbon-Ti's approach from previous generations. Titanium keeps weight low while maintaining the clamping strength and fatigue resistance required at the braking interface.

UCI-Compliant Rounded CNC Edges

The rotor profile features precision CNC-machined rounded edges, introduced on the third generation to comply with UCI regulations and improve safety in the event of rotor contact.

Developed with UAE Team Emirates

The SteelCarbon 3 was co-developed with UAE Team Emirates over several months of testing under race conditions, including the Giro d'Italia.

Compatibility

Compatible with any Centerlock hub using 12, 15, or 20mm thru-axles. Works with all standard disc brake pads; Carbon-Ti recommends organic pads for 140mm.

Not compatible with Campagnolo or Fulcrum AFS systems.
